I did the 10 hour course with Agus and found him to be an excellent teacher, very easy to understand and very patient. I believe I have learnt and understand the language so much more after only 10 hours. I will definitely be back for more lessons.

Twenty hours extremely helpful. Before leaving Indonesia I stayed in a village in Lombok, and I found myself, with help of a dictionary, conversing with locals cheerfully — and some more difficult words just started to make sense in terms of their structure.
Their emphasis on conversation (forcing me to SPEAK) really clicks with my own language learning philosophy. Highly enjoyable experience, wish I’d be back for more!

After coming to Indonesia many times (& really loving it) We decided to take a Bahasa Indonesia course, and after checking different options, we decided for Bali Language School and after meeting Agus (our teacher) we realized that we had chosen well. We have done 40 hours during (more less) 2 weeks and we’ve learned a lot. Thanks to him and the school’s method.

He knows how to teach, what’s important, how to make everything clear, it is really organized and really friendly. Learning a lot and at the same time having a lot of fun. The girl in office, the classroom, and the materials are also really good. We are definitely going to come for more!

I took some lessons with Agus when I first came to Bali. With his help I was very quickly able to learn enough of the language to get by: ordering food, haggling, asking for directions, all that sort of thing. A few more lessons and I was able to engage in simple conversations. And if I kept at it, I could probably learn to speak at a level good enough to impress the president!
Agus is well-educated and articulate, and has a very good knowledge of the intricacies of the Indonesian language. He also speaks very good English! He has also become a good friend, and his local knowledge of Bali has been very helpful. Bahasa Indonesian is a pretty easy language to learn, and if you plan on spending more than a few weeks in Bali I would recommend learning at least the basics.

I came to Bali in September and wanted to learn Bahasa Indonesian. After spending 2 months studying Bahasa Indonesian with Agus in Bali I feel proficient and comfortable for most day to day interactions, as well as a few of the more idiosyncratic things that happen in Bali.

Whether I am asking for another Nasi Goreng (fried rice), or yelling to a monkey forest park warden “Help my Indonesian teacher is being attacked by a monkey” (ask him about it, best story ever), I feel comfortable and prepared to handle whatever life in Bali throws at me.
Agus is an amazing teacher not just because of his grasp of the linguistics of Indonesia, but also because of his in deep understanding of English and how it differs from Indonesian.

Whether you are looking for a class that teaches you a detailed grammatical understanding of Indonesian with the goal of eventual fluency, or just a place that you can learn what you need to get by in Bali, I highly recommend Bali Language School
